Adopt A Sheep
Have you ever wanted your own sheep, but are not able to have one?

Adopt a Sheep is your way of directly becoming involved as a partner with a small Vermont Farm.
Every year we make choices on which sheep to sell for stock and which ones we wish to keep. We have already sold all of our 2008 stock, and wish to increase our flock over the next calendar year. Our goal is to have 30 breeding ewes, with a wool clip large to make several knitting yarn lines. As the flock increases, we will need to build a larger barn for the sheep and hay storage.
Adopting a sheep for the next year will allow us to increase the flock size without needing to sell any more of our breeding ewes. You can purchase a share of ownership in a sheep, and the sheep will stay at Black Ram Farm as part of the flock. If a sheep is adopted, it can not be sold during that adoption year. If a sheep unexpectedly dies, then the adoption will be transferred to a different sheep of your choice.
What you will receive:
Monthly updates, including photos and video of your particular sheep with the flock.
Yarn from the 2008 shearing scheduled in late August .
The amount of wool you receive will be calculated by weighing the amount of greesy wool from your sheep at shearing, and then the percentage it represents in the total wool clip. The wool clip will then be sent off to the mill in September. When the yarn is processed, you will receive your percentage, hopefully by December. A full adoption will gleen the full percentage, a 1/2 adopting will yield 50% and so forth.
A Black Ram Farm tote.
